What about this YouTube thing?

Yes. Youtube. I'm jumping aboard. Feet first; no head first. Why? Because I think it will be a great way to reach a lot of people. My goal is to Educate, Inform, & Entertain; all while removing the stigmas associated with what happens when you become diabetic.

I have great conversations with people around me. Just earlier today, I was walking down an aisle in Walmart (unintentional plug) and saw a lady with a box of Pillsbury (intentional plug) Sugar-Free Cake mix in her hands. She saw me glance over and that was all the opening I needed. I asked her why the Sugar-Free. It became a conversation of changing eating habits from bad to better to good, to achieve whatever dietary or medical goal you had. I brought up my struggle with Type 2 diabetes; changing eating habits, educating myself on what I could and could not eat to achieve my goals; and finally to finding replacements (better choices) for those occasional times when you just want something good, sweet and decadent. We talked briefly about KETO, Atkins, Gluten-Free and other hot topics in the world of dietary struggles. We ended with the acknowledgement of wishing each other good luck in achieving our goals. She said she would look me up; as I gave her my website address.

And so this brings me back to Youtube. I feel it was a great conversation. Maybe a bit one-sided; as I do tend to get very passionate about this. But it was great conversation from both sides. It's a conversation that should be able to be seen by more people. We never know on any given day what challenge someone has; whether there is anything we can do individually to help, or if anybody is even paying attention. That's why my YouTube exists. We're short on content at the moment. That's all on me. I have had my own struggles with managing medication to keep my sugar levels in check; all while feeling some really bad side effects from my daily medication. That's still an ongoing thing. Who knew those Pepto tablets (another intentional plug) would start tasting so good.

But we're back. We've got some things lined up for the channel. I'm going to post a tentative schedule of future posts below. But here's where I need your help. I want this to go big. No. I need this to go big. We've got big plans here at One Man's Journey and we need each and every one of you to help us execute those plans and achive our goals. I need you to share our website; http://OneMJ.org. I need you to share our Instagram; http://www.instagram.com/OneMansJourneyIG, and I need you to subscribe to and share our YouTube channel; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCL5OHXqU8tw_aR2kRjZN6Wg. Some ideas of what we'll feature on Youtube? * Basic informational/educational content, with such topics as "The Glycemic Index vs The Glycemic Load Index" and why that matters. It will change the way you view foods as either good or bad for you.

* Food and Recipe reviews, such as the Magic Spoon cereal review (we mentioned Magic Spoon in our previous blog post; go check it out). Have you heard of the Sola Ice Cream that's full-fat and 5 net carbs per serving? You won't want to miss this one. * Short candid interviews with folks from the medical community, health & wellness sector, homeopathic experts, and normal everyday folks like you and me; willing to discuss their own journey as a diabetic.

* and we'll do some food testing where we'll take a morning "fasting" glucose reading; eat a particular food, wait 20 minutes, and take another reading, just to show the effects of different foodstuffs. An example? Ketchup. Seems harmless, but is it? You'll have to stay tuned as we eat 2 tablespoons of ketchup which is the typical amount put on a hamburger, and see what our results are.

Don't hesitate to comment on any of our social media platforms. We encourage feedback. If you have ideas for content; send it our way. You can also reach us at Admin@OneMJ.org for media inquiries or if you'd like to help us in any way.

Thanks again folks. We look forward to having you on this journey with us. Oh, and one last thing. Please share this symbol. It's our One Mans Journey Logo. Share and link to our webpage. We would greatly appreciate it.

Please download this image and help us spread the word. Link our website to your social medias and share with your friends and family. We never know who's secretly struggling with the diagnosis or management of their diabetes.
